Habitat Hacienda Build
A contractor-built home for the fall of 2022
It’s high time to build a home for a deserving Santa Fe family! In partnership with the Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association (SFAHBA), we are going to build a house in the Plaza Bonita subdivision in 2022. And we’re calling on builders, contractors, and construction industry experts to help make it happen!
The founding Association members/partners who launched this effort include Borrego Construction, who donated land, Southwest Spray Foam, and Roofing, who donated exterior wall foam, and Sunwest Construction Specialties, who donated windows. Thank you all for giving back to your community!
The Habitat Hacienda Home will be an all-electric, net-zero, and solar 3 bed / 2 bath adobe home that will soon be occupied by a young single mom with two children. The house is 1,200 heated sq. feet + 380 sq ft. garage.
Please join the effort by filling out the form below with your contact info and area of expertise or interest. By committing to donate time or materials to this project, you’re a key part of helping this young family achieve their dream of homeownership.
All in-kind donations of labor and materials qualify for the New Mexico Affordable Housing Tax Credits, where 50% of your donation comes back to you in the form of a tax credit. Call Marilyn Perryman at (505) 986-5880 Ext. 105 for an explanation of how our tax credit program can work for you!
A special thanks to Valerie Montoya, Boss Builders and 2022 SFAHBA President, Miles Conway, the Executive Director of the SFAHBA, and our Construction Director, Rob Lochner for coordinating this effort. For additional questions, call Rob at (505) 670-3315.
This is a four-phase project:
- Phase 1: Summer 2022 – Gather Material and Labor Commitments from Local Businesses
- Phase 2: Fall 2022 – Break Ground on the Habitat Hacienda Home
- Phase 3: Fall 2022 – Interested Parties Welcome to Participate in Volunteer Builds to Lay Adobe in the Habitat Hacienda Home
- Phase 4: Winter 2022 – Home Dedication: As per Habitat tradition, we will celebrate the completion of this home at a Home Dedication Ceremony, where we welcome all contributors to this construction project to join us to welcome the Partner Family into their new house!
