Homes Built by Habitat Santa Fe
Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. Based on principles learned at Koininia Farm, the Fullers began their mission to eliminate poverty housing as a Christian ministry. In 1987, Santa Fe Habitat for Humanity was formed by a group of dedicated, faith-based volunteers. In the early years, we built one home per year. Our organization has grown to meet local needs, and we now build six homes yearly. In the future, we plan to double our capacity to build up to twelve homes per year.
Santa Fe Habitat seeks to build lives as well as houses. Through the houses we build, hope is restored, and lives are changed as the cycle of need is broken. How we build is just as important as what we build. Habitat houses are built with a contribution of five hundred hours of ‘sweat equity’ labor by the future Habitat Partner homeowners.
By investing themselves in the building process, Partner Families gain self-reliance, self-esteem and new skills. By investing time, money, materials, and expertise, Habitat volunteers, donors, organizations, businesses, and professional trades gain new relationships which extend far beyond the immediate impact. Habitat brings together people from all walks of life, with varied skills and economic backgrounds, to achieve a common goal of service to others. We build houses, and thus we build hope.

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Who we are
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community and all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.
Santa Fe Habitat for Humanity Limited English Proficiency Plan
Santa Fe Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) continues to ensure that Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons have meaningful access to our programs, services, and information on homeownership and home repair. This Limited English Proficiency Plan has been prepared to address Habitat’s responsibilities as a recipient of federal financial assistance as they relate to the needs of individuals with limited English language skills. The plan has been prepared in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. 2000d, et seq, and its implementing regulations, which state that no person shall be subjected to discrimination based on race, color, or national origin.
Non-proselytizing policy
Habitat for Humanity and its affiliate organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
